Terms and Conditions: La Petite Forêt

The Agreement

Below we set out the main terms and conditions under which we offer La Petite Forêt for your holiday. The agreement is set out to clarify our obligations to you, your obligations to us, and in the very unlikely event of any disputes, we will use this document as a basis for any resolution.

Please read it carefully before confirming your booking and ensure that it conforms to your understanding of what you expect from the holiday rental.

Essential Definitions

“Rental Period” The period begins at 16:00 on the agreed start date of the booking and ends at 10.00 on
the agreed final date.
“We” or “Us” Martha Tullberg and Nicholas Meek
“You” The person named on the booking form who will take singular responsibility for the entire party for the entire Rental Period.
“The Chalet” La Petite Forêt, Les Praz, Chamonix Mont-Blanc

Cancellation
For cancellations one month or more prior to the start of the Rental Period, the 50% deposit paid will normally be forfeited. However, We will make best efforts to re-let the Rental Period and any monies received by Us for rentals for this period will be used to make repayment to You.

For cancellations less than one month prior to the start of the Rental Period, all money paid (with the exception of the security deposit) will normally be forfeited. However, We will make best efforts to re-let the Rental Period and any monies received by Us for rentals for this period will be used to make repayment to You.

Repayments will be reduced by extra expenses incurred by Us in finding alternative guests, which will include administration time, any late booking discount and any reduction in rentals paid for a shorter booking during this period.

If for any reason the booking is cancelled by Us, all money paid by You to Us will be refunded to You immediately.
All cancellations must be made in writing and acknowledged in writing by us.

Cancellation related to COVID-19

What if COVID or related regulations prevent my holiday?
If the chalet is not accessible due to lockdown regulations which force us to close the chalet to guests, we will offer you a refund and the option to reserve dates of your choice in the future.

However we don’t refund if cancellation is due to you or one of your party becoming ill or being unable to travel, or due to changing travel regulations in the country you are arriving from, or France denying entry.

Why not?
Travel from other countries does represent something of a risk to us, just as it does to you  – but you as a guest can insure against that risk, as we cannot. Larger places like hotels and apartment complexes are likely be able to fill rooms with guests from other countries, so can provide more flexibility in their cancellation. We have just one little chalet, and it’s not feasible for us.

YOU ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO ARRANGE COMPREHENSIVE TRAVEL INSURANCE INCLUDING CANCELLATION COVER DUE TO COVID-19, PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND PUBLIC LIABILITY.

To note: So far, we have always been able to re-let dates, and thus to refund the original bookers. But of course we can’t guarantee this.

What We offer
We will provide a clean, well maintained holiday property suitable for the number of people on the booking form.

Specifically, within the Chalet: Bedding and towels will be of good quality and freshly laundered. Kitchen items supplied will be good quality, and be serviceable.
The property will be well stocked with sufficient crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking appliances in good condition. Any additional items advertised on our website will be available (unless otherwise advised).

We will ensure that all utilities (including, but not limited to gas, electricity, water, internet and phone) are connected and that all bill payments are up to date. We will not be liable to You for any defect or stoppage in the supply of public services, beyond our control.
The property will be available for occupation from 4.00pm on the start date of the booking until 10.00am on the final date, unless agreed otherwise in writing.
Housekeeping service of a thorough clean between tenants is included in the Rental price.
At any time prior to the commencement of the rental, we will respond to any queries You may have in a timely and professional manner.
Once a reservation has been accepted by Us, we will set out clearly and in writing the timetable of payments, the amounts and the dates by which they should be received.

Your part of the deal:

You will pay Us the agreed rental fee as follows: 50% of the total rental fee is payable upon booking. The booking cannot be considered accepted until this is received by Us.

One month before the start date of the Rental Period, You will pay Us the balance. Delay in any payment will constitute cancellation by You of the booking.

You acknowledge that the Chalet is a private holiday home which is maintained to a standard that We, as owners consider suitable for personal use.
While You occupy the Chalet, You will be responsible for maintaining the property, furniture, finishings and equipment in the same state as You find it at the commencement of the Rental Period and will indemnify Us against any loss or damage caused by Your negligence in excess of the security deposit referred to in Paragraphs 15 to 18.
You will without delay report to Us or our local representative any defects in the property or breakdown in the equipment, plant, machinery or appliances in or on the property, and arrangements will be made for repair or replacement as soon as reasonably possible.
You will not exceed the maximum occupancy permissible. All occupants must be named on the booking form.
Please ask us if you wish to invite visitors, as we need details for insurance purposes.
The Chalet is not an event venue and large parties (over 6 additional guests including children) are not permitted unless by specific and express permission.
You will not use our internet connection for any activities illegal under French law, such as downloading copyrighted material, filesharing or torrents, and you will ensure no-one in your party does either.

You will keep us informed of any information about your booking that we should be aware of.
You will not act as an agent to a third party with respect to your booking.
You will allow maintenance personnel, cleaning staff, the Owners and the Owner’s representative reasonable access to the property for the purposes of repair and maintenance.
You will not smoke inside the Chalet, and You will ensure that no one else in your party does either.

Security Deposit
When You arrive at the chalet, You will also provide us a deposit of 300 euros, payable by credit or debit card, against any undue damage or serious loss or breakage incurred during your stay. Excessive cleaning will be charged for at cost.

Should we need to retain any of these funds, we will notify You in advance and You will have the opportunity to consider the matter.
The sum reserved by this clause shall not limit your liability to Us in the event of major damage. If the security deposit is insufficient, You agree to complete the sum owing on presentation of invoices.
