More ski areas close to Chamonix

As well as the main Chamonix areas of Flegere
Les Grands Montets, La Vallee Blanche,
Le Tour and Vallorcine and Les Houches, there are more areas a short drive away. A day in Italy, riding at Courmayeur can be a lot of fun, and can be very handy in case of bad weather conditions, as the mountain creates a separate climate there. It also has some exceptionally atmospheric and excellent restaurants on the mountain and in the town, which is very traditionally Italian - you won't believe France is a few kiloneters away!
Access: 1 hour via Mont Blanc Tunnel (info here) or the tourist office runs a coach trip on Wednesday
Also within driving distance are Les Contamines, Samoens, Megeve, Verbier and Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz
