Chamonix is one of the world's top destinations for skiing and snowboarding, whether you want to learn in the most spectacular mountain surroundings or ride the classic off-piste route of the Vallee Blanche.
With its five major ski areas - Flegere and Brevent (which is a short walk from the chalet), Les Houches, Les Grands Montets, Le Tour and Vallorcine - excellent snow record (90% of the pistes are above 2000m) and unparallelled scenery, it's the true home of mountain and adventure sports.
So as well as skiing and snowboarding, you can also try snow shoeing, husky-sledding, tobogganing, ice skating, ice climbing, parapenting, helicopter or balloon flights, and loads of activities for families.
You can also heli-ski in Chamonix, as it's close to the Italian and Swiss borders.
