The cross-country ski tracks weave through the trees close by the chalet.

It's just five minutes from the cosmopolitan centre of Chamonix by car, a 10 minute bus or train ride, or a pleasant 20 minute stroll along the woodland paths or a quiet road.

The chalet is in the pretty mountain village of Les Praz de Chamonix - one of the most sought-after areas of Chamonix due to its sunny aspect, traditional village feel, and the Flegere ski lift which is based here. Just two kilometers further into the mountains from Chamonix town centre, it has a charming village shop where you can get new baked bread, local cheeses and saucisson, fresh fruit and vegetables and other necessities.

There are several friendly, English speaking ski and snowboard shops, a newsagent and a post office. Plenty of restaurants and a couple of bars can be found within a few minutes walk, ranging from cheerful Italian pizzeria to superb French haute cuisine, and including a great apres bar, for vin chaud in front of the fire.

In summer, some of Europe's most spectacular mountain hikes can be started right from the door. The Chamonix golf course, a few minutes walk away, is a world class eighteen hole course with superb views.
